abOUT THE dIRECTOR OF bANDS
Anna Zaino comes from Woodstock, Illinois and is entering her third year at Johnsburg High School. She comes from her position as Orchestra Personnel Manager with Mchenry County Youth Orchestra in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Miss Zaino was the recipient of the John Philip Sousa National Band Award in 2013. In May of 2017, Miss Zaino graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education - Instrumental at Illinois State University. She hopes to achieve her Masters Degree soon. While attending ISU, she participated in The Big Red Marching Machine, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Pep Band, and Tau Beta Sigma. After graduating, Miss Zaino has completed long term substitute music positions in both Ingleside and Cary, Illinois. She also is part of Grant Community High School's Marching Band Staff.
Outside of school and during the summer, Miss Zaino keeps busy by performing with the Woodstock City Band and Clarinet Choir 'Knock on Wood'. She also works as Supervisor for Playground Program, a kid's summer camp with the Woodstock Recreation Department. In her spare time, Miss Zaino likes to watch 'You've Got Mail', tell bad jokes, and complete a Paint by Numbers. She has completed a total of five paintings.
This year, Miss Zaino has the opportunity of acting as the Musical Pit Director for Theatre 121's production of Matilda in Woodstock, Illinois. Come see her in March!
